Angry Birds Crochet Beanie

This was a commissioned piece for a friend for her Angry Birds loving son. I couldn't find a pattern that looked the way I wanted the hat to, so I ended up creating my own! The ear flaps are meant to look like little wings. This hat is made from 100% acrylic yarn, so it's easy to wash and is rugged enough to withstand a rambunctious kids' life!
Balls Hackeysack

I crocheted these balls for a friend who needed a "destressor" at work. And what helps stress more than kicking someone in the balls?* This little guy is made from wool yarn and filled with dried beans to help keep his shape. His face was made using embroidery floss.
*I don't actually recommend kicking people in the balls...don't do that. It's a bad thing.
Bedsheet Purse

This purse was something that was knocking around in my head for a while, until I decided to just pull out some fabric and make it! I collect vintage sheets for their beautiful florals, so I decided to pick one out of the stash and use that for the lining. I used some grey marine vinyl for the exterior, to keep it water-resistant and easy to clean. I always need lots of pockets on my purses, so I included two lined exterior pockets with magnetic snaps, an interior zip pocket, and an interior open pocket for pens, checkbook, and keys.
Chemistry Mug Rug

I made this mug rug mini quilt for a coworker. I wanted to try out my hexagon template, so I went with a chemical diagram design (using mini ric rac for the lines in the design)
Cookies and Milk PJ's

I couldn't resist picking up a few yards of this cookies and milk print flannel when I saw it at the fabric store. I used a variation of an out-of-print kid's pajama pattern to make this pajama set for Josh's younger sister.
Dipp Katamari Damacy Cosplay

Katamari Damacy is a really fun video game where you play as a little alien, The Prince, trying to roll up objects to build a bigger "katamari". Dipp is one of The Prince's cousins, who you can collect in your journey. Josh and I are huge fans of the game, and one Halloween he wanted to dress up as one of the characters. I used a hoodie and added legs of a matching pair of sweatpants to the hood to create the headpiece. Before stuffing, I appliqued various colors of fabric circles to the suit.
Pussy Whipped: The Ballad of Dusty Rose

This little lady sprung out of my weird sense of humor and wordplay. I started thinking about how weird the phrase "pussy whipped" is, when visualized, and this is what I came up with. The main body is crochet, as is her hat. The boots and the belt are faux tooled leather glued and sewn together. Her whip is made from a bamboo skewer base with floral wire, wrapped in embroidery floss. Her gun is made with Sculpey and "stained" with brown paint. She can stand on her own, and is fully poseable. I'm using her in some stop motion animation videos.
Fuck Your Beauty Standard Makeup Bag

Who says you can't take down the patriarchy while having perfectly arched eyebrows? This makeup bag makes a clear statement about your views on beauty standards with style.
This bag features a metal zipper with Shrinky Dink zipper pull and an embroidered exterior. The laminated cotton printed with rainbow hearts, dancing skeletons, or old school tattoos, makes the interior wipe clean. The laminated cotton is also waterproof so that any unfortunate makeup spills are contained within (so you don't have to worry about foundation leaking into the rest of your bag!). Features an outer divided, elasticized pocket, so you can pack even more into this bag.
- One main zip pocket, outer elasticized divided pocket
- Measures 8" x 6" with a 1.5" squared bottom.
- Outer Fabric: 100% Cotton Twill
- Lining: Laminated Quilting Cotton
- Zipper Pull: Shrinky Dink plastic
Roll-Up Glassware Bag

These bags are lined with flannel and well-padded, for any glass items you may need to take on-the-go. My friends who use glass pipes love these because even oddly-shaped pieces can fit and be well-cushioned.
Glassware and Accessories bag with zip

These bags are great for messy things, like makeup (or herb) because the plastic coated fabric can be wiped clean easily. This bag uses some of my favorite Dia De Los Muertos fabric on the exterior, and some cute dancing skeletons on the inside. There are small pockets on one side, a plastic-lined zip pocket and a large padded pocket with velcro closure.

I must confess, I have no idea who this character is. My brother loves anime, and asked me to make him a coat for his Gol D. Roger cosplay. I used stills from the anime and pictures of a figure to create this coat, based on Simplicity 4923, but adding a large stand-up collar, and loop buttonholes. I used a crushed velvet, interfaced with a net interfacing, and lined with a polyester lining. The epaulets are made using this tutorial and various types of upholstery trims.
Green Cowl

I needed a new scarf, and this is my favorite shade of green, so I found a stitch pattern that I liked and whipped up this infinity scarf, or cowl.

Hottie Potholders

I had leftover sexy cowboy fabric from a glassware bag made for a friend, and we needed a handle-style potholder for our iron skillet...and the Hottie Potholder was born! Made from cotton quilting fabric and heat-resistant batting, I quilted around the abs for extra dimension and durability.
Imaginary Friends: Maxine

It all started when fell in love with a cartoon called Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, about a foster home for imaginary friends. I decided to create my own friends, as gifts for friends who needed one. I asked some friends to draw their ideal imaginary friend, and then created them in fleece and felt.
These two friends are both named Maxine, and are made of polar fleece.
Imaginary Friends: Bloop

It all started when fell in love with a cartoon called Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, about a foster home for imaginary friends. I decided to create my own friends, as gifts for friends who needed one. I asked some friends to draw their ideal imaginary friend, and then created them in fleece and felt.
These two friends are both named Bloop. Materials: Fun fur, acrylic felt, fleece
Jake the Dog Amigurumi

I wanted a little something to spruce up my cubicle, so I created this amigurumi version of Jake the Dog, from the TV show Adventure Time. His arms and legs are fully poseable wire, and I added a little bootie to keep it authentic.
Japanese Woodblock Quilt

I've loved Japanese woodblock prints since studying them in my art history class in high school. I found this fabric, by Alexander Henry, and it reminded me of that type of artwork, and I knew I needed to make a quilt from it. The body of the quilt was made using the Yellow Brick Road pattern, with the patches' colors pulled from the focal fabric.
Josh's Paisley Couch Bag

I call this Josh's Paisley Couch bag because the fabric looks like a couch to me--it is made out of upholstery fabric, after all. Josh saw this fabric at the store and decided he wanted a bag made from it, so I created one using similar dimensions as Amy Butler's High Street Messenger Bag pattern, but with fewer pockets and zippers.
Love Beads Quilt

I created this for my friends' wedding, I knew they liked the brown/blue/green color scheme, so I decided to try to get variations of blues and greens with a brown background. The square on the back is a line from the song "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, their initials, and the year they were married. I'm sorry to say I don't have a picture of this quilt completely finished, the quilting was a really fun faux bois pattern.
Menswear Scarf

This scarf is made from reclaimed mens' suit fabrics, sewn into a long strip, then backed with polar fleece. Definitely great for cold days!
Nightmare Before Christmas Quilt

This is the first quilt I made for my boyfriend Josh. He loves The Nightmare before Christmas, so I created this black and white zig zag quilt with appliqued Jack Skellington heads on the cornerstones.
Pantone Color of the Year Mug Rug

I made this mug rug mini quilt for my boss, who's a graphic designer. I found the perfect solid fabric for the main color of the Pantone chip, and used freezer paper stencilling techniques to add lettering
Peace, Baby! Quilt

This strip baby quilt was created to celebrate the birth of a dear friends' son. I lucked out by finding some great peace sign fabric for this hippie baby. This quilt is quilted pebble-style, in varying sizes of overlapping circles. The corners are rounded, and the quilt is bound in a blue plaid.
Pirate Car (Little Tykes Cozy Coupe)

I had seen various examples of remade Cozy Coupe toy cars online, and we decided Josh's younger sister needed one of her own. We started with a thrifted Cozy Coupe, then used spray paint specially formulated for use on plastic to spray the bottom black and brown, and the top beige. Then, we covered the outside bottom of the car in woodgrain contact paper, with a bit of space between each "plank" to make it look a bit more like a ship. We covered the seat in crushed velvet, and covered the top of the car in canvas to emulate a sail, and coiled the trim down the two front posts. It was a fun, but labor intensive project...but she loved it!
Purple Hooded Cordury Coat

I decided I needed a purple coat, and I couldn't find one that fit what I wanted in stores. So, I created my own, using purple corduroy, owl print flannel, and a cotton batting interlining. It was perfectly warm for Missouri winters!
Sad Uterus, for Government Free VJJ

I created this sad uterus for the Government Free VJJ project. I looked at some medical drawings and kind of made up a pattern as I went. She's made from cotton yarn and stuffed with polyfill
Sasquatch Hunter Kit

Josh's sister is very interested in Sasquatch, so for Christmas in 2012, I created a sasquatch hunter kit for her. I used the freezer paper technique to stencil a purchased t-shirt and backpack, then created an official-looking "Bigfoot Hunter" license to fill out and frame. I used wool yarn to crochet the bottoms of the slippers and the "toes", then felted to get the right texture. Then, I finished off with a fun fur/wool upper for a toasty slipper that looks like Bigfoot feet!
Sloth Purse

Sloths are my favorite animal, and I was bound and determined to make a sloth applique bag, even though I couldn't find a sloth applique that I liked anywhere. I finally found some clip art that would be close enough, and used a reverse applique technique. The main body of the bag is made from marine vinyl, and the sloth is made from scraps of brown velveteen, unbleached muslin and a reclaimed tweed jacket. The bag's strap is reinforced with nylon webbing.
Sunflower Irish Chain Quilt

Sunflowers are my home state's flower, and I wanted to try working with an Irish Chain pattern. This quilt went quickly, because the top was strip-pieced.
Tie-Dye Potholders

I made these as a housewarming gift for a friend. She has a bright, bubbly personality, and I felt like the bright blues and purples in these dyed fabrics would suit her.
Tie Dye String Quilt

This quilt was based on a photo I had saved in my "inspirations" folder for the longest time, kind of a modified string quilt. I made this for some friends to celebrate their wedding. I used mostly batiks, and for the back, I hand-dyed a large piece of fabric. I also used a fun decorative stitch along the binding with a varigated thread, so this quilt is definitely colorful!
Universal Afghan for Dad

My dad is going through some major surgery, and will have a long recovery time, so I decided to make him this afghan so I could be "nearby" even though I'm in another state. It ended up being kind of "Universe" themed even though I didn't mean it to be, because of the patterns I chose. With names like "Betelgeuse" and "Locutus," and pattern pieces called "Satellites," I feel like "Universal Afghan" is a good name.
What's My Name Again? Mini-Quilt

This mini quilt was made for my cubicle at work, as a fun little nametag to jazz up my workspace. I used the freezer paper technique to stencil a scrap from my Tie Dye String Quilt's back with my name. Then I used the Mod Mosaic Tutorial and scraps from my scrap bin and grey linen to create the pieced border.
Wrist Warmers for a Cold Office

My office is freezing, especially in the winter, so I made these fingerless gloves for a coworker, using the Quick Crochet Wristwarmers pattern found in Crochetology
