I'm Shannon Linn, and I started Idiosyncraftic Designs to sell the items that I've been creating "just for fun" for years.
I started crocheting when I was probably 6 or 7, just chains and circles at first, then in high school I got into making hats...although not a lot of them fit the recipient. But practice makes perfect, and now most of my crochet turns out exactly as I picture it in my head. That's one of the things I love the best about crochet, you can kind of make things up as you go along much more than other crafts.
I started sewing when I was about eight, after taking some classes at my aunt's fabric store. I remember making a pillowcase, a pair of shorts and a backpack that first summer, and after that, I was hooked. I went to "Quilt Camp" the next summer and made my first quilt. I continued to sew outside of class, although not many of my creations were good enough to see the light of day. In high school, I started making a lot of my own clothes, and loved that I could create things I couldn't find in stores.
Most of my quilting experience comes from making gifts for people, so I don't have a lot of great pictures of my quilts, unfortunately. I really enjoy the process of making a quilt, but expense keeps me from making a lot of large quilts. Instead, I satiate my need for piecing with small projects, like mini-quilts and potholders.
Not only do I sew, crochet, quilt, and stencil, I also can teach you how to do these things! In high school, I was a teacher's aide for children's sewing classes (those same classes that I learned how to sew in!) and I have taught many friends to crochet. I love helping expand crafts to a new audience!
